Heat

We've had a great week here. We made jerseys as a basketball team. We play every morning at 6. In the picture we are doing something that all Latinos do: not smile. I don't know why, but they don't smile at the camera. It's a weird cultural thing, and now I've got into the habit of it. Sorry if I don't look happy, I really am.

We had training with president this week. He always teaches about God's plan and how we need to share it always, then his wife talks about how we need to be clean for the 50th time. She shows pictures and just burns us all the time. I love the mission.

There is a lot more sun and heat and sweat now that we are leaving winter down here. I've been hearing about the debate between Clinton and Trump that is happening today. These people are very in tune with us and our politics. I bet you don't even know who the president is down here. Anyway, have fun this week, enjoy conference down there!!!

Early Spring

It's heating up down here. I remember reading about the "City of Eternal Spring." Big lie. They blame it on Chimbote saying they ruined the weather, but I think it has to do with the 500,000 taxis they have here that are super illegal in emissions. But what can I do?

I have a funny story. There was an investigator that went to a Mormon wedding reception. She said she will go to church after on Sunday because the party was Saturday. But she said she took off her shoes to dance and stepped on ice. I assumed she slipped and hurt herself. But no, she said that it gave her a cold and that she couldn't talk and everything hurt. I don't get it.

We are teaching the bishop's sister and her "husband", they are progressing a lot, but aren't married. I don't know why, I never thought this would be such a problem, but only members of churches are married. Please don't be that guy. JUST GET MARRIED.

Love you all, have a great week. I'm doing great, no major sicknesses.

Changes

We had changes, and I am staying here with my companion, the fourth change here. That is six months in Chimbote and six in Trujillo. There is an hermana that has six months here, and got changed to a ward that meets in the building of the same stake. She is from Willard, Utah, pretty cool.

There was an Elder that lives in Idaho that finishes today and he left me a football! Today me and Elder Carr, from Marysville, taught the Latinos how to play Two-Hand Touch Football. It was sooo much fun! We wake up early and play sports together everyday with my district and on Monday with the zone. There are 18 missionaries in the zone.

This week we were looking for a reference from a member. But his address doesn't exist. So we knocked on the door with the closest number and a 30 year old man answered. We asked if Henry lives there and he said no. So we asked if we could talk with him about the family and how God blesses the families. He looked at us and let us come in. His soon-to-be wife told us it's a sign. They were at the point of splitting up. But we showed up in the middle of the crisis to talk about what they needed. There are no accidents here in the mission. We get put right where we need to be, and the other way around too.

Love you all so much. Have fun this new school year. Remember that here in Peru they finish in December, haha.

Labor Day

We had a crazy week. We had to move. I don't like it. I have accumulated a lot of things and don't want to toss them yet. It'll be hard coming home and leaving things here. Our new room is a lot better, but there isn't any door on the bathroom, and no water at 10:30am. But we have buckets and rules of where you can be if someone is in the bathroom.

My pensionista is super pregnant and can't really walk let alone cook. She says she is fine and we shouldn't worry, but she goes to the hospital every week. Today she served lunch and said she went to the hospital and they made her go to the fourth floor by stairs just to tell her she was in the wrong building. It's crazy here. She said she might just give birth in her house because it's easier.

We are having a lot of fun. All the activities are over and everyone should be drinking a little less this week; should be a successful week. Love you all, have fun this week!
