I'm Out of Here

We got the call last night at 10:15pm. I'm leaving to Trujillo. My area is Trujillo. I'm in the middle of the nicest city in the mission... What!? My companion is from Peru. His name is Elder Torres. I'm so excited to do something new and meet new people!

It was nice to see everyone, I guess that's why nobody wrote. But it's cool. We had a great last week. I got to do a work visit with the District leader. We always have such a great time. I understand now how hard it is the deal with whining and complaining. All the Latinos complain they have sensitive skin and are afraid of the sun. But us white people get burnt everyday and nobody cares. We went out and found this criminal who let us in. He weighs about 300 pounds and got mixed up in a lot of bad stuff. He said he'd get baptized. I love the gospel!

I guess we'll see how this all goes. I'm going to kill some animals today with the bishop for his birthday. And right now we're going to eat guinea pig. Is that illegal?

Anyway, love you all, take care in that crazy heat!

One more week

Next week I will know the changes, but there is so much in between. We had a very odd week. There is a convert we are teaching. And she told us she was watching the Discovery Channel, and they were talking about us going to space. She proceeded to explain that it was all a lie and everything was faked. I told her she was crazy being a proud defender of all that is good in the world. She then said that Neil Armstrong would not swear on the Bible that he went to the moon! I'm losing my mind, somebody please send me some answers!

But other than that, it was pretty chill. We went to a big training in our stake center for family history.  But it was for all three stakes in Chimbote. We had all 60 missionaries and about 20 members. It was very interesting. He said that all the youth need to fill out their family book and take names to the temple. I should have done that more!

There was a family I met on the first day here that were going to get sealed in December, and then it was moved to January, and then February until April 29th. And it happened! They finally got sealed! They were so happy. The people here are so cool.

Well I guess that is all until this weekend, I don't know what is going to happen, but I'll see you on the screen!

Natural Disasters

What is going on in the world!? I heard of a 7.1 earthquake in Japan, and a tsunami on its way to Chile. A  7.8 in Ecuador. An avalanche somewhere in the States! What's going on!? I'm trying to do my part down here!

This week went by really quick! We've been crazy busy! We have a investigator that works Monday through Friday fishing 6 hours away! We gave him a Book of Mormon and he's reading and came to church! He's the best! We are having a lot of success switching people to our ward. There are a lot assisting in the old one from six years ago. So the attendance is slowly growing.

My pensionista was getting really worried because of how much weight I've lost here. So she started to sneak more and more food on my plate till I got to the point of throwing up. So I decided to tell her I'm trying to lose weight, then she changed her perspective. Now I eat a ton of vegetables and lime juice on a plate. And meat and beans on the other. NO more RICE! Now I feel so much better and not full of pain and sorrow!

Sunday was a really good day, it's been a long time since we had a meeting. It was great! We had this less active convert go for the first time since I've been here...

Have fun at home and make good choices!

Elecciones

The elections were this week for the president of Peru! It was the worst week because nobody was home. Here it is a law to vote, if not, big ticket. So to make sure everyone votes of Sunday, you can't have church. So that's two weeks in a row without church! But we managed. We arranged a Sacrament Meeting with the pensionista and we all gave talks and participated in the sacr

ament. It was a lot of fun. Then we walked around for hours looking for people and nobody wanted us. But every vehicle that was running around with speakers announcing someone, we stopped and got free SWAG( Stuff We All Get). It was a fun couple of weeks.

Last Monday when we went out proselyting, we were looking for a less active and found his brother who is 30 years older than him... His name is Wiler and it is actually pronounced like Willard! It's insane! He is the coolest guy ever. He said he use to always reject elders and just recently when we knocked he had a change of heart and let us in. It was an amazing lesson.

But earlier that day, as a Zone we ate all you can eat pizza and then played basketball. But when we got to the chapel, the alarm was going off. So we shut it off and started playing, but it went off again! So the Zone Leader went in and said he saw a cat run upstairs in the chapel. So me and two other elders went up to find it. They both grabbed brooms and I couldn't find another, so I found a mop. The cat was hiding in a room and it slipped out. The other elders were trying to sweep it with no success and it was about to get away. So I took the mop and wrapped it up. That cat was terrified when I did that and stopped fighting. We got it in a bucket and tossed it outside. It was a crazy P-day!

Anyway, I think it's cooling down now. I was teaching a lesson and felt the desire to put a jacket on. That's not good, because it's still like 70 degrees at night. I'm going to die at home. Love you all, and enjoy the photos!

Conference Weekend

I got to watch all the conference in English and it was the best weekend of my life! People were losing their minds when they announced another temple in Lima! None in the States! And three down here! I loved the talk of the ordinance workers. So much talk of temples and the work. So inspirational, I will buy a white suit when I go home! Love you Mom!

Elder Willard

P.S. I learned how to do something really cool!

Conference Week

What a great week! We had interviews with the president on Wednesday and he is the coolest guy! He has a great way to motivate us. He knows exactly what's going on with us! Then we had conference! It was the best conference of my life. It's so crazy how you can have a question, pray about it and then every single speaker touches on it! What an amazing week!

We went and taught a member and he showed us this thing he is going to start selling... It's a pyramid scheme. Poor guy. And he is the High Priest Group leader. The members here are so excited for everything!

Love you guys!
